What Is Candle Tunnelling and How Can I Prevent or Fix It?

Tunnelling happens when the wax melts only in the center, leaving a thick rim around the edges. To avoid this, let your candle burn long enough during the first use—at least 1 hour or until the wax melts fully to the sides.

If tunnelling has already occurred, simply scoop out excess wax around the wick and burn the candle again until the wax pool evens out.

Reusing Candle Jars

Can the Candle Jar Be Recycled or Reused?

Absolutely. Once the candle is finished:

1. Remove the label,
2. Add boiling water and a drop of dishwashing detergent to soften the leftover wax,
3. Let it cool, then remove the wax and wick base,
4. Wash and dry the jar thoroughly.
